B.Y.O.B.
When I hear the four letters “B-Y-O-B,” I can’t help but to think of a jam packed, more guest than anticipated, patio party, which you are required to provide your own booze. Well I’ve decided to change it up a bit and elevate this four letters acronym to “Bring Your Own Brooch!” I did not want to venture far from the feeling of being at this crowded party, where you have to escape to a corner to catch your breath, but not before sneaking by the cooler on your way to this quiet oasis in the back of the patio, because you didn't bring your own bottle like the invite implied. However, I did get a bit adventurous by trying an authentic Greek beer called “Mythos.” I was truly inspired by my love and infinity for brooches. Collecting these stunning pins became a hobby of mine that started about four years ago when I saw a picture of Rihanna wearing a denim on denim outfit, which she clipped about 3 to 4 Chanel brooches onto the denim shirt. I had to have it and my addiction for acquiring brooches began. Brooches are traditionally paired with collared shirts or sports jackets. I wanted to keep the casual “on the veranda” feel alive, so I paired my designer pins with a very casual athletic Adidas three quarter cropped pant, with the matching t-shirt. The feel of a super causal daytime ensemble, was a perfect fit for the mood of the day. I also decided that I wanted to dress this ultra relaxed look up, by adding a plaid grandpa double breasted sports jacket over the Adidas T-shirt and of course the myriad of brooches effortlessly arranged about the blazer. This felt like a DIY hobby that came to life. Each brooch has a special meaning and place in my heart. My next mission is to round up a vintage assortment as well to mix with my current collection.
Trendntonic would love hear if you’ve created a special jacket that has symbolic meaning as well. Please comment or message below.
